Furniture Care Guide
Leather, solid wood, and natural rattan can maintain their beauty for years with simple, regular care. Follow these recommendations to protect your Artihandmade® pieces and preserve the character of their natural materials.
Leather Care
- Dust regularly: Wipe with a soft, dry cloth once a week.
- Clean spills promptly: Blot spills immediately and gently wipe with a slightly damp cloth. Allow the leather to air-dry naturally.
- Condition periodically: Apply a suitable leather conditioner every six months, or more frequently in dry or heated environments, following the product's care instructions.
- Avoid direct heat and sunlight: Keep leather away from prolonged direct sunlight and at least three feet from radiators or other heat sources.
- Embrace the natural patina: Full-grain leather may darken, soften, and develop a distinctive patina over time. These changes are a natural part of its character.
Solid Wood Care
For teak, walnut, and oak furniture.
- Dust regularly: Use a soft, dry cloth to remove dust.
- Clean gently: Wipe with a cloth lightly dampened with water and, if needed, a small amount of mild soap. Dry immediately with a clean cloth.
- Protect the surface: Use coasters and protective pads beneath hot, wet, or heavy objects to help prevent marks and moisture damage.
- Avoid harsh cleaners: Do not use ammonia-based cleaners, silicone sprays, or abrasive products that may damage the finish.
- Maintain the finish: Minor scratches may be repaired by careful sanding and refinishing when appropriate for the wood and its finish. Follow the specific care recommendations for your piece.
Natural Rattan Care
- Remove dust gently: Use a soft brush or a vacuum cleaner on a low setting with a brush attachment.
- Clean when needed: Wipe with a lightly dampened cloth, taking care not to saturate the cane.
- Allow to dry completely: Let rattan air-dry thoroughly before using the furniture again.
- Avoid excessive dryness and heat: Keep rattan away from radiators, direct heat, and extremely dry conditions, which can make natural cane brittle.
